Join us at the Sydney Royal Easter Show Citizenship ceremony to hear a live reading of Free by Nature.

At the 2026 Show, 400 conferees will also take one of the biggest steps of their lives and receive Australian Citizenship, taking a pledge and oath to officially call Australia home.

The ceremony is open for all Showgoers to witness, is incredibly moving and serves as a reminder to all of us how blessed we are to live in the land Down Under.

RAS Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales will act as Presiding Officer, alongside RAS President John Bennett OAM, and other government representatives.

Food, good company and the spoken word combine for an evening of stand up poetry. The mic is open and all forms of expression and languages are warmly welcomed. Read an original poem, perform a personal favourite, or bring your guitar. The 2026 Short Story Competition Adult Open Category results will be announced during the evening.

They’re opening in July to build the buzz, warm up the walls and showcase local artists before the official Cementa26 festival week rolls into town.

Each session promises to inspire, engage, and entertain, reflecting the diverse voices that make up Australia's literary community and showcasing the beauty of Miriwoong country.

The Mudgee Readers’ Festival has been running since 2010, a huge achievement for a festival created by a small team of passionate readers, with the first modest events held in Lawson Park.

Over the years the Festival has gone from strength to strength, with an exciting line-up of events across our gorgeous town, including bibliotherapy sessions, storytelling events, book and wine matching and, of course, our Long Lazy Lunch.

This year, Free by Nature poetry will be in the foyer of the Town Hall Theatre in Mudgee and we invite everyone to come and browse. You might even like to come along to a poetry session. All details are on the website:

If Not Now, Then Wren?

The Fairy Wren exhibition is a curated month-long celebration of Fairy Wrens, presented by Denise Faulkner and Margot Stephens.

The purpose of this exhibition is to raise awareness that the fairy wren will be extinct within 30 years if we don't make changes now. As part of the exhibition there will be a talk on the dilemma fairy wrens are facing and information on changes that can be made.

Free by Nature will release a brand-new collection of poetry at the exhibition. The poetry is a love letter to a bird of extraordinary beauty. And a quiet grief for its growing vulnerability.
